NORMAN A sophomore opposite and outside hitter on the Oklahoma volleyball team, Megan Wilson was named to the 2022 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Southwest All-Region Team on Tuesday.
 
Under head coach Lindsey Gray-Walton, the Sooners have garnered 12 total AVCA All-Region honors, including eight AVCA All-Region Team members, over the last five seasons. Wilson, the 2021 AVCA Southwest Region Freshman of the Year, joins Guewe Diouf and Marion Hazelwood as the only Sooners in program history to earn AVCA Freshman of the Year honors and AVCA All-Region Team accolades.
 
The two-time All-Big 12 honoree led the Sooners with 368 kills in 2022 and moved up to eighth overall in the record books for single-season kills. She recorded double-digit kills in all but four matches on the season and posted a career-high 0.500 hitting percentage against Texas Southern on Sept. 16. The Kingwood, Texas, native ranks second in the Big 12 with 4.60 points per set, third with 464.5 total points and fifth with 3.64 kills per set.
 
Wilson also set a program record for service aces in a single season with a Big 12-leading 56 (ranked ninth nationally) and averaged a Big 12-high 0.55 service aces per set (ranked 14th nationally).
 
The Sooners posted their best non-conference record since 2013 with a 10-2 mark. OU concluded the 2022 season with their best overall (15-13) and conference records (5-11) since 2019. Under Gray-Walton, the Sooners also earned 19 total All-Big 12 awards over the past five seasons.
